Magnanimous Monday – 7/15/2013

Money’s been tight lately. It’s summer here in the U.S., so I have no substitute teaching work. My tutoring schedule has picked up, and I just got a new PRN job as a residential assistant at a drug and alcohol treatment center, but I have yet to start officially (waiting for my fingerprints to come back so I can go to an orientation).

Since money’s been tight, my social life has consisted mostly of free activities such as inviting friends to use the pool at my apartment complex. But last week, a friend of mine had tickets to see a comedian we both like and shared them with me. She also bought dinner for us and for her three daughters, who range in age from 19 to 12 and are the most perceptive, intelligent young people I’ve ever met outside my own family. I’ve been stressed lately, and this evening was what I needed.
